Glazed

Fully Glazed Sun Lounge Roof

Our sun lounges can be installed with choice of roof glass- translucent, tinted and opaque.

Translucent glass allows the best solar heat transfer from the sun, naturally warming the building in the summer. Natural light is also thought to have positive health benefits and also to create the best enviroment for reading and other similar activites.

Tinted glass has a reflective coating to reduce the infrared, visible light and ultraviolet (UV) radiation travelling through into the building. This tinting effect reduces glare in the building and ceater better conditions for viewing TVs and computers, especially effective in winter months of low lying sun light. Tinted glass can enhance the visual apperance of a sun lounge and completments the tapco roof slate sytem described below.

Opaque glass is the best solution to create a low maintenace roof, but with the advantage of heat insulation. An insulation layer is created by the cedar match boarding fitted on the underside of the glass which also creates a suiting cedar ceiling from the interor of the building. Opaque glass offers privacy from any on lookers, and creates shading in a building which may atttached too much sun light.

Self cleaning glass and double glazing can be offered as optional extras.

Immitation Slate

TapcoSlate Classic highlights the handsome character of slate, at the same time enhancing roof performance through innovative design. Unlike natural slate, TapcoSlate Classic won’t break or delaminate and comes with a 40-year Warranty.

Glenelg with tapco slate roof system

Tapco slate is made from resin bonded, crushed virgin Dolomite limestone, TapcoSlate Classic has the random texture and edges of natural slate. This synthetic slate is much more reliable than natural slate.TapcoSlate Classic have excellent weathering characteristics; they will not curl, lift or delaminate, and are impermeable to water. The slate is offered in slate grey, but other colours are avaialble on request.

Cedar Shingles

Shingle Roof Option

Western Red Cedar Shingles have been used as a first choice roofing material in North America and other parts of the world for over a century. The use of Cedar as a roofing or siding material is known to decrease heating costs up to as much as 15%, keeping buildings cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter due to its insulation value.

In our buildings we use only grade one shingles, which contain zero defects and therefore the least risk of of mis shaping or warping over time. Cedar shingles have the lowest carbon footprint and have a long life time (in excess of 15 years) in comparison to other natural roofing products such as roof thatched alternitives.

A Combination

Different Roof Configurations

All three roofing systems can be combined to suit your personal preferance. Our buildings can combine different roofing options to harness natural shading or to conversely promote the transfer of natural light into a sun lounge. The tapco slate system is perfectly suited to work alongside our unique glazed roof system and still uphold the maintenance free design characteristic. The cedar shingle roof is a good option to heat insulate a building, but a single elevation replaced by glass can provide natural light for reading and allow solar warmth to transfer into the building. Double glazed glass can be fitted at a surcharge to increase heat insulation performance.
